An easy way to makeover your property is to simply emphasize its positives and never mention the negatives.

It would be beneficial to check other properties that are on the market in your area and find out what your property has to offer that the others don’t. Is yours in a good school catchment area, is it very close to the transport links and local shops, does it have a garden……

Just focus on highlighting what your property has, talk about the private parking area, talk about how close it is to the local park, is you’re a quiet road, just compare your rental value with what is on the market and this will enable to figure out if yours is on the market at the right price.

  • Up to date Kitchens and Bathrooms

Revamp your kitchen if you can, this can be done by changing the worktop or buying new stainless steel appliances. Just keep the property clean. Mop the floors, polish all appliances, and scrub cabinets inside and out. Remove dust, cobwebs, and grease from fans and light fixtures. Also, be sure the fixtures have all working light bulbs. You will want to highlight the amount of light the apartment receives.
Purchasing new knobs and handles for cabinets is an inexpensive way to makeover your room.

  • Keep it neutral

Stick to neutral paint colours such as beige, grey and cream throughout the property. The neutral theme extends to tiles, hardwood floors, carpeting, light fixtures, and cabinets. Picking neutral, timeless design will save you money in the long run, as you will not have to spend money to constantly update to the most current trend.

  • Keep it freshly painted

A fresh coat of paint can brighten up to entire property and dimmed hallways and highlights architectural features such as built-in bookcases or high ceilings.

It would be best to use satin or semi-gloss paint for a rental property. With this type of paint, crayon marks, scuff marks, and even grease can easily be wiped off.

  • Curb Appeal

First impressions are very important. If the exterior of your building is not appealing, full of rubbish and run down, a potential tenant may even refuse to enter the property.
What could be done to improve the curb appeal…

  • Make sure the plants are looked after and inviting, remove dead plants, empty/broken pots
  • Re-tile the entrance if needed or jet wash if necessary.
  • Make sure it is painted, windows are not broken
